Hi Rosalind! Yes that's exactly what I do. I do my charcoal drawings with a grid. Once complete I apply a pastel under-painting to the picture (monochromatic) and then begin building various layers of pastel until I get the desired results.

Wow Vanessa I just love your blog. You really keep me inspired to go deeper with my art. I have a question about your charcoal drawings with the grids. Do you use the colored pastels over the charcoal under drawings with the grid on them? Just curious. I am loving what I see

My apologies for the late response. I hope your Pigeon Peas and Rice turned out ok! I may be a bit late but to answer your question, you can certainly add tomato paste to your peas and rice in conjunction with the coconut milk. However, I would not add them at the same time, at least 5min apart to allow the previous to absorb adequately.

A big thank you for checking out my artwork. My pieces are indeed for sale. My online gallery notes which pieces exactly are for sale: http://naturalexpression.net

We're quite far apart. I have never been o Vegas but would love to go one day. I hear so many great things about it. I live in Bermuda, a small island in the middle of the Atlantic ocean.

Glad to meet a fellow natural sistah, it me up anytime via email if you'd like. I try to post recipes weekly on my blog: http://naturalexpression.net/blog along with portfolio updates so pop back again if you can.

I am making Pigeon Peas and Rice for a Pot Luck @ work. It has been years since I made it, so I googled the recipe. I really like your website. Your artwork is beautiful! Are your pieces for sale?
I usually put a can of tomato paste in my recipe; do you think this will work ok w/the coconut milk? I mainly add it for color, but I am wondering if the taste of the tomato sauce & coconut milk will clash w/each other....Vanessa, I'm glad you wear an afro, so do I. I love my 'fro! I live in Las Vegas. Where do you live? Hope to hear from you soon!
